redukt_studio on Helsingin Kalliossa Kaarlenkatu 12 osoitteessa sijaitseva työhuone. Tila on neutraali katutason liiketila ja se soveltuu työskentelyyn, kokouksiin, näyttelyihin tai esityksiin. Tilaa ylläpitää redukt_kolletiivi, eli Joel ja Veli-Ville ja he järjestävät avoimia hakuja niinä aikoina, kun työhuone ei ole heillä itsellään käytössä. Idea on, että tilan saa käyttöön ilmaiseksi! Tilassa on työpöytä ja kuusi jakkaraa, jotka saa tarpeen mukaan pois, kahvinkeitin, jääkaappi, wc-tila, TV, pimennysverhollinen ikkuna katutasolle ja erikseen sovittaessa joitakin audio-visuaalisia laitteita.

redukt_studio is a workspace located in the Kallio district of Helsinki at Kaarlenkatu 12. The space is a neutral street-level space suitable for work, meetings, exhibitions, or performances. The space is maintained by redukt_collective, meaning Joel and Veli-Ville, and they organize open calls for use during times when the workspace is not used by them. The idea is that the space can be used for free! The space includes a worktable and six stools (which can be removed if necessary), a coffee maker, refrigerator, bathroom, TV, a street-level window with blackout curtains, and, upon request, some audio-visual equipment.

Taiteilijoille tarkoitettu open_call -haku toteutetaan tänä vuonna kolme kertaa: keväällä, kesällä ja syksyllä. Keväällä on tarjolla kolme kolmen viikon slottia, kesällä kolme kahden viikon slottia ja syksyllä kolme kolmen viikon slottia. Tarkemmat päivämäärät tarkentuvat tulevien hakujen myötä. Hakuajat ovat:

open_call -haun idea on antaa työtilaa ilmaiseksi taiteilijoille silloin, kun emme itse tarvitse työtilaa. Yleensä tila annetaan kahdesta viikosta kolmeen viikkoon taiteilijan käyttöön ja hän voi käyttää sitä työskentelyyn, näyttelyn pitämiseen tai esityksen järjestämiseen. Emme järjestä näitä hakuja erityisen hallitusti, joten meille on tärkeää, että sinä tai työryhmäsi on tai olette luotettavia, ettekä riko paikkoja. Ota huomioon, että työhuone on asuintalon kivijalassa, mikä rajoittaa hyvin meluisaa tai muuten häiritsevää työskentelyä. The open call for artists will take place three times this year: in spring, summer, and autumn. In spring, we offer three three-week slots; in summer, three two-week slots; and in autumn, three three-week slots. Exact dates will be confirmed with each upcoming call.
Spring: 9–15 February 2026
Summer: 11–17 May 2026
Autumn: 3–9 August 2026
The idea behind our open call is to offer free workspace to artists when we’re not using the studio ourselves. Typically, the space is available for two to three weeks, and can be used for working, hosting an exhibition, or organizing a performance.
We don’t run these calls in a very formal way, so it’s important that you or your working group are reliable and take good care of the space. Please note that the studio is located on the ground floor of a residential building, which limits very noisy or otherwise disruptive activities. If we receive a lot of applications, we want to be honest: selections are made largely based on gut feeling or even by random draw. More detailed application info will be posted on Instagram when each call opens.

redukt_studio facilities
Yleisesti työhuoneeseen liittyy seuraavia huomioita:
•Tilaa koskee yleiset asuintalon järjestyssäännöt (eli ei esim meteliä klo 22 jälkeen jne.)
•Tilaa ei saa antaa muille, kuin nimetyille henkilöille. Tilaan saa kutsua ihmisiä, mutta sinä tai työryhmän edustaja tulee olla paikalla.
•Poistuessa ovi tulee laittaa myös ylälukkoon
•Tila tulee olla siisti, kun työskentelyaika loppuu (vähä imurointii)
•Roskis tulee olla tyhjennetty
•Jääkaappi tulee olla tyhjennetty
•Astiat tulee olla tiskattu
•Pullot ja tölkit tulee olla kerättynä yhteen paikkaan
•Puutteista tulee ilmoittaa, esim jos vessapaperi on loppu tai jokin paikka on rikki, niin täydennämme parhaamme mukaan (toki meitä saa myös tukea ostamalla wc-paperia)
Jos jotakin tapahtuu:
•Emme vastaa työtilaan jätetyistä tavaroista
•Työhuoneessa on lukollinen kaappi, jonne voi jättää arvotavaraa. Jos jokin murto työtilaan tapahtuu työskentelynne aikana, työtilamme vakuutus ei kata henkilökohtaisia tavaroita, mutta esim. oma henkilökohtainen kotivakuutus kattaa tällaista irtaimistoa.
•Toivomme tosiaan, että avain ei hukkuisi. Vakuutuksemme korvaa uudelleensarjoituksesta vain osan. Jos hukkaat avaimen, olet velvollinen korvaamaan omavastuuosuuden (joitakin satasia). Jos avain häviää, ole yhteydessä meihin ja yritetään selvittää asia yhdessä.
•Vesivahingon tai muu onnettomuuden kohdalla laittakaa viestiä meille pikimmiten, niin otamme yhteyttä taloyhtiöön, jotta he voivat korjata asian.
•Jonkin paikan tai kulman kolhiintuessa, ilmoita siitä meille, jotta voimme sitten tulla korjaamaan sen.

In general, the following points should be noted regarding the workspace:
•The space is subject to general residential building rules (e.g., no noise after 10 PM, etc.).
•The space cannot be given to anyone other than the named individuals. You can invite people to the space, but you or a representative of your team must be present.
•When leaving, the door should be locked at the top as well.
•The space must be clean when your working time ends (a bit of vacuuming).
•The trash must be emptied.
•The refrigerator must be emptied.
•Dishes must be washed.
•Bottles and cans should be collected in one place.
•Report any shortages, such as if the toilet paper is out or something is broken, and we will replenish it to the best of our ability (of course, you can also support us by buying toilet paper).
If something happens:
•We are not responsible for items left in the workspace.
•There is a lockable cabinet in the workspace where you can leave valuables. If a break-in occurs during your work period, our insurance does not cover personal items, but personal home insurance usually covers such belongings.
•We sincerely hope that the key will not be lost. Our insurance covers only part of the cost of rekeying. If you lose the key, you are responsible for covering the deductible (a few hundred euros). If the key is lost, contact us, and we will try to resolve the issue together.
•In the case of water damage or other accidents, send us a message as soon as possible, and we will contact the housing company so they can fix the issue.
•If any place or corner gets damaged, let us know so we can come and repair it.

A4CT - Artivism for Critical Thinking at redukt_studio 2026
Organised by Iria Arenas, the A4CT programme at redukt_Studio
unfolded over three weeks through workshops, performances, screenings, conversations, radio broadcasts, and collective practices focused on artistic activism, precarity, resource-sharing, and alternative economic and social models. The studio hosted movement-based practices with @l.aph.are, collective archiving and zine-making sessions with @katekuler, sunrise and sunset concerts by @mp_mustapiste, panel discussions with @bilgehasdemir and @shohrehshakoory, conversations with @yasminibrahim_, and presentations by @economic.media.lab, alongside screenings, readings, and skill-sharing workshops.
Rooted in A4CT’s mission to support artists as critical witnesses to social, political, and economic realities, the programme created a physical space for dialogue, collaboration, and experimentation beyond the digital platform. Through public gatherings, hands-on practices, and informal exchanges, Redukt_Studio became a temporary commons where artists, activists, and cultural workers connected, shared tools and experiences, and explored how art can function as a method for collective care, resistance, and transformative social engagement.

KOTI: KRUNAMÄNSIÖN 2024 Exhibition
on entisten kämppisten kokoama näyttely kimppakämpässään viettämistään hetkistä. Vuosien 2014-2021 aikana Krunamänsiönissä asui yhteensä yksitoista eri henkilöä, aina neljä kerrallaan, eri pituisina ajanjaksoina ja eri kokoonpanoilla. Kaikkia kämppiksiä on yhdistänyt yhteinen koti, yhdessä eletty aika ja halu jakaa.
Materiaalia, kuten tavaroita, valokuvia ja muistiin piirtyneitä kokemuksia - esimerkiksi keittiön pöydän äärestä - on kertynyt vuosien aikana runsaasti. Näyttelyn kautta avaamme oven Krunamänsiönin kämppiselämään. Mitä rinnakkain eläminen ja arjen jakaminen voi tarkoittaa? Miten auringonvalo siivilöityi lasitiilien lävitse ikkunattomaan keittiöön? Mitkä hetket on koettu tärkeiksi taltioida ja jakaa?

Squares and Chairs 2024
Veli-Ville Sivén's art exhibition Squares and Chairs. The exhibition combines geometric shapes, bold colors, sound, and virtual reality.
"I have long been fascinated by geometric shapes and primary colors. To me, abstract forms contain a mystery and an ineffable resonance. Sometimes it feels like the shapes are communicating with me."
In the exhibition, abstract compositions, especially those formed by vertical and horizontal lines, engage with the viewer, and the viewer with them. The exhibition consists of works that are three-dimensional and sculptural, as well as two chairs designed by Gerrit Rietveld, whose construction sparked the entire series of artworks. The exhibition combine various techniques: woodworking, the behavior of light on surfaces, combinations of strong colors, synthetic sound, and 3D virtual reality animation.
